Hoboken Housing Authority passes “Pay-to-Play” resolution

HOBOKEN — The Housing Authority passed a resolution Thursday night to implement a “Pay-to-Play” policy that would disallow business entities that make significant political contributions from receiving municipal public contracts from the authority.
“It’s basically what was passed by referendum at the city level in 2004,” said authority board member Jake Stuiver. “Now it has been expanded to include the Housing Authority.”
According to the resolution, the policy seeks to “avoid the perception of improper influence in public contracting and local elections.” –Stephen LaMarca
