NJMC to host two-day business seminar

SECAUCUS AND BEYOND – The New Jersey Meadowlands Commission (NJMC) will host a two-day business seminar on April 18 and 19. The goal of the Downtown Revitalization Management Institute (DRMI) is to help the Meadowlands Region strengthen its downtowns and business communities in the lead up to the 2014 Super Bowl XLVIII.
The conference is being held in partnership with the Department of Community Affairs Office of Main Street New Jersey and Improvement District Program.
On April 18 a one-day intensive business recruitment training will be held for business district management organizations, chambers and other municipal-based recruitment leaders. Each pre-registrant team from the first 25 communities shall receive a packet of current economic data, pertinent to their respective commercial district, for use in retail recruitment. The packet will include: a site map of the district; demographic and income data; lifestyle (psychographic) data; retail supply and demand data for 3 radii of the district; a summary of the existing businesses; and updated traffic counts in and near their district.
On April 19 a one-day intensive training designed especially for local businesses and those who work with them will be held. Topics include how to make your business a destination and advertising techniques in trying times. Specific take away plans for business owners who attend will be provided.
Both days will be held at the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission Environment Center, Richard W. DeKorte Park, Lyndhurst. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
