Proud of Jersey City

Dear Editor:
As a lifelong resident of the great City of Jersey City this writer is proud to be a part of such a diverse community where all people share common goals for the good of the order. This writer is also a proponent of law enforcement and recognizes the necessity of measures that will assist in ensuring the public safety of all peoples in the community.
It is to be strongly noted that those who commit horrendous acts of terror are not confined in one state or area. We know that Jersey City and Hudson County are only a short ride through the tunnels and that in this day and age of technology, some good and some harmful there are those who desire to destroy our being within our midst. In 1993 after truck with explosives ignited in the garage of the World Trade Center, the blind cleric involved was arrested on Kennedy Boulevard in Journal Square. In 2001 there were many associates of those involved in the destruction and death in New York within the streets of Jersey City.
Our government officials and all residents should be praising New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly for his efforts and we should all thank the men and women of law enforcement on all levels, federal, state, county and municipal for their gallant efforts to maintain our safety.

Respectfully,
Robert B. Knapp
