Saint Peter’s holds model U.N. competition

On March 13 and 14, Saint Peter’s College held its annual High School Model United Nations competition. Schools from all across northern New Jersey represented a different country and participated in a simulation of the United Nations. Each day began with rigorous debates on issues ranging from humanitarian intervention to the European debt crisis.
Marist students displayed their excellence in rhetoric and eloquence while remembering to follow the exact UN guidelines.
“It’s not an easy task to follow every speaking logistic when you’re in the full swing of your debate,” said senior Kimberly Fonseca.
This, however, did not stop Marist from taking home six awards. Seniors Daryl Domo and Jordan Jones received the Outstanding Delegate Awards. The Outstanding Delegation Award was given to senior Shereea Gaskin. Senior Navidra Hardin took home the Honorable Delegate Award. Junior Ricardo Pereira and sophomore Kamille Moise received awards for Outstanding Position Paper.
