Atlantic City man found guilty of murdering North Bergen resident
Atlantic City resident Craig Arno was found guilty Thursday in the murder of a North Bergen resident following a fatal carjacking in an Atlantic City casino garage roughly two years ago, according to a Fox News report.
According to the report, Arno, who was cleared of one count of attempted murder, was found guilty of murdering Martin Caballero, who was 44 at the time of his death. Arno and his ex-girlfriend, Jessica Kisby, cornered Caballero in the garage of the Trump Taj Mahal casino in May 2010. Kisby pleaded guilty to murder in February.
According to the report, Kisby testified the pair took Caballero to a rural area about 20 minutes away where they stabbed him to death, then used his ATM card to withdraw money from a bank. Arno could be sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Caballero’s death sent shock waves through the North Hudson community, where he was well know. A vigil was held at Pershing Field, Jersey City, across the street from the Central Avenue supermarket where he worked as produce manager.
CSX Railroad Crossing at 83rd Street and Tonnelle Avenue being repaired
CSX railroad began a “long-awaited” repair project Tuesday on 83rd Street between Tonnelle Avenue and West Side Avenue, according to town spokesman Phil Swibinski. Owned by CSX, the roadway bends at a sharp angle leading to a wall and contains numerous large potholes as it passes underneath the train tracks. It has been the site of a number of fatal motor vehicle accidents over the years, according to Swibinski.
“This road has been a public safety hazard for many years and we are glad to see CSX stepping up and undertaking this repair work,” said Mayor Nicholas Sacco. “Part of being a good corporate neighbor is making sure your land is safe, especially when it is used by the public like 83rd Street is. These repairs will make the area far safer for drivers.”

State Fair Meadowlands returns this summer
State Fair Meadowlands is set to return for 17 days of “everything-under-the-sun” fun this summer, running from June 22 through July 8 at the Meadowlands Fairgrounds, next to the Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford. This year’s fair will feature free entertainment, rides, games and food for all ages. The fair includes the State Fair Kid Zone, an amusement area for children; the new Live Shark Experience show; and fireworks shows on July 3 and July 4.

This year, the fair is offering free parking Monday through Wednesday, and $4 all other days, including July 4. On June 22, opening night, parking is $1.
