A funeral mass was offered June 9 at St. Francis R.C. Church in Hoboken for Peter ‘Pietro’ Altomare, 90. He passed away at his home in Little Ferry on June 5. Born the youngest of seven children to Sergio and Lucia Altomare in Molfetta, Italy, Peter served in the Italian Royal Navy during World War II. He immigrated to Hoboken in 1947 and worked as a longshoreman for 25 years. After retirement he worked selling his favorite food at the Boston Fish Market. Peter was the husband of Mary T. Altomare; father to Sergio Altomare, and his daughter Lucille Marrone and husband Albert; grandfather to Michele Rowe, her husband Jack, Natalie Bell, her husband Scott and Angela Maria Altomare; and great grandfather to Jackson and Elias. Peter was predeceased by his first wife, Angela Maria Altomare, his daughter Phyllis De Gennaro and her two children Angela and Anthony De Gennaro. Peter’s favorite pastime was entertaining, music, dancing, traveling, soccer and the occasional cake fight. Services arranged by the Failla Memorial Home, Hoboken.
