Dear Editor:
As a resident of this town, I want to take the opportunity to tell other residents about an observation I made and an experience I had regarding Mayor Mike Gonnelli. We, the residents, are very lucky to have a very hard working mayor. He has all the good qualities of an ideal leader. He is trying his best to bring all groups of nationalities together for all the events held in the town. He takes an active part in everything going on in the town, including all the festivals and celebrations. The Mayor never refuses a request that falls within the bounds of what is permitted and then always lends a hand to make the event a success.
Whenever there is a major problem in town, like a power failure or flooding, the mayor is right there to help the people. During a power failure that affected Minnie Place where I live, he personally distributed water to the residents. And if he can’t be there personally in an emergency, he makes sure other town workers are there to help. During the very recent heat wave, he opened the town pool to all residents for free and had phone calls placed to the residents inviting them to come to the pool to cool off.
Mayor Gonnelli has many new ideas and visions on how to make Secaucus a better place to live. For example, this past Sunday, June 10th, at 7 am, while I was walking in Buchmuller Park, I came upon the mayor, holding a cup of coffee, and walking through the area of the children’s playground that is being upgraded. He was checking out the work being done and writing notes on the progress of the project and how he wants to see it become a reality.
These are the traits that Mayor Mike Gonnelli shows to the people and is what makes him a true leader for the Town of Secaucus.
Sincerely,
Bhikhubhai A. Patel
