National prostitution investigation results in arrests in Secaucus

SECAUCUS AND BEYOND — The Secaucus police, in partnership with the FBI Newark Division, on June 22 arrested four adults for allegedly engaging in prostitution at a local hotel. A fifth individual was arrested for allegedly engaging in a massage business without a proper license, according to a police statement issued to local officials.
According to the statement, the primary goal of the operation was to rescue juvenile victims from sexual exploitation, as well as identify any person(s) engaging in prostitution.
The arrests were made as part Operation Cross Country VI, a three-day nationwide law enforcement effort led by the FBI to address child sex trafficking. Across the country 79 child victims of prostitution were recovered and more than 100 pimps were arrested.
However, in Secaucus, no juvenile arrests were made and no juveniles were identified during the local operation.
According to the statement from the Secaucus police, those arrested in Secaucus for alleged prostitution included two women from North Carolina, a Jersey City woman, and a Teaneck woman. A West New York woman was arrested for allegedly engaging in a massage business without a proper license.
