A mass of Christian burial was offered Aug. 15 at Holy Rosary Church, Jersey City, for Giuseppe Zamarra, 76, of Jersey City. He passed away Aug. 11 surrounded by his family. Giuseppe was born in Vallata, Avellino, Italy and arrived in America in 1958 where he met and later married his wife, Antonietta Trematerra in Jersey City in 1965. A master tailor by trade, he started a garment manufacturing company that employed over 50 people until his retirement in 1997. Giuseppe was an avid soccer fan. In the 1970s he sponsored several amateur international soccer teams and players. His other passion was visiting his children and grandchildren. He was also an active parishioner of Holy Rosary Church in Jersey City and St. Lucy’s Church in Newark. Giuseppe is survived by his children Enrico, Joseph, Alfonso, Claudio and Roberto Zamarra; his brother Gerardo; his sister Alfonsina and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Antonietta Zamarra (Trematerra) in 1995 and his sisters Maria, Giovanina and Maria Francesca. Services arranged by the Riotto Funeral Home, Jersey City.
