Union City resident Alicia Maria Punales Morejon, 17, will attend Columbia University in the New York City where she plans to study sociology and eventually go to law school. Alicia’s proud parents, Julio C. Morejon and Dr. Diana Punales-Morejon, are lifelong residents of Union City.
Alicia graduated from the Academy of the Holy Angels, an all-girls Catholic high school in Demarest, where she was an honors student and a member of the National Honor Society.
She was captain of her varsity soccer and varsity fencing teams. During the past two summers Alicia organized a high school community service trip to New Orleans and volunteered in the post Hurricane Katrina rebuilding effort.
