I’d like to share my experience by warning potential victims about street sweeper signs that are not visible in West New York.
If you are planning a visit to 60th street in West New York, you should be aware of the street sweeper schedule. An unsuspecting visitor can fall prey to the Parking Authority employees, because signs informing of sweeper restrictions are not visible to drivers if a car is parked in front of that sign. That is because, unlike, the highly visible signs regarding “residents parking;” and metered parking; the sweeper signs are located on the post of a parking meter. To make it more complicated, these signs appear on only 2 or 3 meters in a one block area. I realize it would not be frugal to place a sign on every meter, but, I do think it would make sense to have a sign on each pole that already includes the “residents” and “metered times” signs. This would prevent unsuspecting visitors from receiving a $35. parking ticket!
