Stay away from retail

To the Editor:
I recently read about the decision to declare the Best Foods site in Bayonne as a redevelopment zone. Now the developer of this project, Cameron Group, wants to put in warehouse, light industrial and possible retail. When I saw retail, I wondered why they would put retail into the site. We have so much retail on Broadway, two new shopping centers on Rt. 440, and the shopping plaza on North Street.
How many of these stores are already struggling to stay open or may close soon? Do we really need more retail in this town? I hope Cameron Group decides to get away from retail and stick to a plan that will lure and provide facilities to companies that will come in and provide high-wage jobs, not low-wage retail ones.
