HUDSON COUNTY – Two schools in the Hudson County Schools of Technology, which are the county’s public high schools, both scored high marks in New Jersey Monthly magazine’s first-ever ranking of high schools in county vocational school districts. High Tech High School, located in North Bergen, ranked 7th, while County Prep High School, located in Jersey City, placed 11th in the statewide standings released last week.
“It’s wonderful to see both High Tech and County Prep recognized as two of the very best high schools in New Jersey,” said HCST Superintendent Frank Gargiulo, who is also a former president of the New Jersey Council of County Vocational-Technical School Districts, an association of superintendents and school board members representing the state’s 21 county vocational school districts. “These rankings and the impressive scores posted by all of the schools show that county vocational school districts are doing an excellent job providing 21st century paths for outstanding students to receive a great education.”
The rankings are based on several measures – Student-faculty ratio, percentage of faculty with a Masters or Doctorate degree, average combined SAT score, percentage of students Advanced Proficient in language arts and math on the HSPA, HSPA combined average, and adjusted graduation rate. The magazine called the results for top schools “striking.”
