Fire chief comments on cause of Hoboken Charter School fire

HOBOKEN — The Hoboken Charter School fire cause will ultimately be recorded as “undetermined,” according to Chief Richard Blohm on Tuesday.
However, he added, “If we had to put in a guess, we would say that it was an electrical fire on the second floor.”
The Sept. 6 fire at 713 Washington St. had displaced K-8 students until Tuesday morning. Though children were evacuated promptly and avoided injuries, several firefighters were hospitalized for smoke inhalation. Classes for the Charter School were cancelled for over a week while an interim space was decided. Classes resumed Tuesday at St. Anne’s school in Jersey City.
