Hoboken’s ‘Cake Boss’ to build bakery in Bergen County; says cakes are not ‘way overpriced’

HOBOKEN — Buddy Valastro is hauling his cannolis to Bergen County. The Record of Hackensack reported Wednesday that the “Cake Boss” of reality show fame is opening a branch of Hoboken’s Carlo’s Bakery in Ridgewood.
“I want families to come to the bakery and take a peek at bakers making pastries and goodies,” Valastro says in the story.
The story notes that the bakery will be 3,300 feet and that he hopes to open it in November. He says the site at 12 Wilsey Square will likely see some filming.
Valastro also noted, “A lot of people have this misconception that because I’m on TV, we’re inaccessible and way overpriced, which is so untrue. You can buy a $100 sheet cake, or a $5,000 custom cake that moves, jumps, and spits.”
