JERSEY CITY – On Saturday hundreds of daredevils will descend on the roof of the Mack-Cali building in Jersey City and, using professional mountain equipment, will rappel down the side of the mini skyscraper. The event, which has attracted participants from throughout New Jersey and New York, is a benefit for the American Cancer Society. Each participant is raising money for the cancer organization by collecting donations from individual sponsors.
For the event, which is officially called Over the Edge, six rappellers will go down the side of the Mack-Cali building at a time. The first rappellers are expected to come down at around 8:30 or 9 a.m., after they get suited up, and there will be a steady stream of rappellers on the building until about 3 p.m.
Folks attending the All About Downtown street fair taking place nearby might want to take a short detour over to Mack-Cali to see these fundraisers/rappellers in action.
Mack-Cali is located at Harborside Plaza 1 in the Harborside Financial Center, near the Exchange Place PATH Station.
