Start your engines: 2013 Formula One Grand Prix race gets a date of June 13

HUDSON COUNTY — The much anticipated Formula One Grand Prix races through the streets of Hudson County now have a tentative date to begin: June 13, 2013.
According to NJ Business: “The first of 10 Formula One races in Hudson County has been put on the 2013 calendar of the global racing circuit, though the date still requires approval by the international body that governs the sport. The race has been given a June 13 date on the circuit’s provisional schedule for next year, making it one of 20 planned races between March and November. Organizers and state officials have long said the race will take place in June, but placement on the calendar has been closely watched amid speculation that contractual and financing issues would delay the event.”
The race will run through Weehawken and West New York.
The area will also be home to two other big events in the next few years: A Wrestlemania event and the 2014 Super Bowl in the Meadowlands.
