Forty-nine seniors were inducted as members of the McNally-Sinnott Chapter of the National Honor Society at Saint Peter’s Preparatory School in Jersey City during a ceremony on Thursday, October 18, 2012, recognizing their excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character.
Highlights of the induction ceremony included reflections on the four areas of excellence that have defined NHS members since the society’s creation in 1921, given by the chapter’s officers for this year. Incoming president Christopher Egan of West Caldwell spoke on leadership; vice president Richard Budka of Berkeley Heights on character; secretary William Lavelle of Westfield on service; and treasurer Matthew Bernardo of West New York on scholarship. The moderators of the National Honor Society are faculty members Sr. Frances Marie Duncan, OSF and Michael Settembrino.
The following local residents were inducted:
Bayonne: Michael Esposito, Kevin Gallagher, Jack Giacchetti, Nicholas Santa Maria, and David Somers.
Jersey City: Jon Cordon, Raza Mehdi, Henry Om, Faizan Rafi, and Luke Rivera.
North Bergen: Isiah Cruz.
Secaucus: Jai Malik and Joseph Mucciolo.
West New York: Chirag Arya and Matthew Bernardo.
