Benefit and auction for Hoboken Charter School set for Oct. 29 at W Hoboken

HOBOKEN – A rare visit to the set of CBS’s critically acclaimed police drama “Blue Bloods” and lunch with the series star Donnie Wahlberg, an exclusive round of golf at Liberty National Golf Club (Home of the 2013 Barclays), and a private Spanish Wine tasting for 40 guests are just a few of the items that will be up for bid on Monday, Oct. 29 during the Rebuild Hoboken Charter School Benefit and Auction.
The event, which will also feature epicurean offerings from more than a dozen of Hoboken’s most popular restaurants, will take place from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the W Hoboken overlooking the Hudson River and Manhattan skyline. Tickets are $90 per person and can still be purchased online by visiting www.hcs-pa.org.
All of the proceeds from the ticket sales and auction items will go towards the effort to rebuild Hoboken Charter School’s 713 Washington St. building which was devastated by a three-alarm fire on Sept. 6, leaving nearly 200 K-8th grade students displaced.
“Words can’t begin to express how thankful we are that our children were safely evacuated from the building during the fire and how grateful we are to have received such an outpouring of support from both the Hoboken Charter School community and the community at large,” notes Elissa Brachfeld, president of the Friends of Hoboken Charter School.
“Through a remarkable display of generosity, we’ve received an extraordinary amount of goods and services which allowed us resume operations of the educational program in a temporary location. Our focus now turns to rebuilding 713 Washington St. so we can return the K-8th grade program to its permanent home in time for the start of the next school year. Our first official fundraiser, The Rebuild Hoboken Charter School Benefit & Auction, will go a long way in helping us achieve that goal, and we’re all looking forward to a fun, meaningful and well-attended affair.”
This Oct. 29 event will feature:
• Food stations from some of Hoboken’s finest restaurants, including The Fig Tree, Zack’s, La Isla, Charritos, Madison Bar & Grill, AD’s Catering & Events, Mikie Squared, Clinton Social, The Cheese Store, Johnny Pepperoni, and City Bistro;
• A specialized cake by Carlo’s Bakery;
• Drink stations courtesy of Sparrow Wine & Liquor;
• A huge Silent Auction & Live Auction with over 200 items & packages valued at over $65,000.
All of the food, drinks and auction items have been donated for the event, which combine with the generosity of Platinum Sponsor Knight Capital Group, Inc., Gold Sponsor A Whole New World Academy and other donors to ensure that all of the money raised will be used to rebuild the school.
