A mass of Christian burial was performed Oct. 13 at St. Anne’s Church, Jersey City, for Herbert F. Johnston, 80. He died peacefully on Oct. 10 after a long illness. He was a U.S. Marine Corp Korean War combat veteran, and he was lovingly cared for at the Veterans Home in Paramus for the last eight years. Mr Johnston worked for the American Can Company in Jersey City for more than 20 years, and he was head of maintenance for the Chateau Renaissance Hotel, Jonathan Logan, Inc. and the Leslie Fay Company. He is survived by his three daughters, Karole Kreutter, Evelynn Johnston and Kellie Johnston and their partners. He is also survived by his life partner, Carmela Andrino, and her family, and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Johnston.
