Thank you, NWL

To the Editor:

On Oct. 6, I went to our Jersey City National Wholesale Liquidators store on Rt. 440 to inquire about buying 125 folding chairs for the Cluster Soup Kitchen located at Our Lady of the Assumption in Bayonne. The manager Mr. Lord Andaya went out of his way to check the store stock and checked with his warehouse. He told me he would order them from his warehouse and have them available by the following week.
Seems simple enough, but it seemed impossible for the Wal-Mart store in Bayonne. According to their manager, it would have taken six to eight weeks or longer for them to order and there was no guarantee they’d be able to get them at all. Amazing. It seems the big box store can’t fill an order for 125 chairs, when a store like National Wholesale was willing and able to take the order and actually get them within the week.
We would like to thank the Golden Ages from Assumption Church, Joe Doria, and Karen Shaneen for donating the money to buy the chairs for the Cluster Soup Kitchen, which were desperately needed. We’d also like to thank Karen Shaneen for purchasing the tables for the Soup Kitchen. Due to their generosity, the new tables and chairs for our guests of the Soup Kitchen are now being used for them to enjoy their meals more comfortably.
It’s a shame that a world-known store like Wal-Mart is not capable of helping our community and our soup kitchen. Their inability to take an order or try to help us with our request was disappointing.
Once again, thanks, Mr. Andaya and National Wholesale Liquidators for such prompt service. You’ve done what Wal-Mart couldn’t.
