Farmers’ market extended

BAYONNE — Mayor Mark Smith has announced that the Bayonne farmers’ market will continue on Tuesdays through Dec. 18 and will offer special products for the holidays. Mayor Smith said, “The city of Bayonne and the Urban Enterprise Zone are happy to continue Bayonne’s successful farmers’ market into December. The market will add special holiday season items to the Jersey Fresh produce and food products that have made the market so popular.”
Jersey Fresh is a program that encourages the sale of New Jersey-grown fruits and vegetables in cooperation with the New Jersey Department of Agriculture.
The market will take place on Tuesdays, rain or shine, on Nov. 27, and Dec. 4, 11, and 18 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the municipal parking lot located on Del Monte Drive next to the mini-golf course near West 23rd and 24th Streets between Avenue C and Broadway. The market is located in Bayonne’s Special Improvement District, which runs from 17th to 30th Street.
Mayor Smith thanked Lauren Halecky Dellabella, a local food consultant, for making the arrangements for the farmers’ market to continue into December. Originally, the farmers’ market was scheduled to end in October, but it was extended twice due to its success with Bayonne consumers.
