Holiday Hudson Reporter advertising deadlines

Because of the Thanksgiving Day holiday, some of the Hudson Reporter newspapers will have special advertising deadlines.
For The Secaucus Reporter, The North Bergen Reporter, The Union City Reporter, The West New York Reporter, and The Weehawken Reporter, the deadline for classified and display advertising is Tuesday, Nov. 20, at noon.
The Hoboken Reporter and Jersey City Reporter deadline for classified is also Tuesday, Nov. 20, at noon, but the deadline for display advertising is Wednesday, Nov. 21, at noon.

Free health screenings

Palisades Medical Center will offer free health screenings in North Bergen. Throughout the year, Palisades Medical Center partners with North Hudson Community Action Corporation, Christ Hospital School of Nursing, and Hudson Perinatal Consortium in order to provide free health screenings and education programs.
On Sunday, Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., hospital staff will be on hand at Sacred Heart Church, 9034 Barr Place in North Bergen, for free screenings and information on blood pressure, heart rate, percentage of oxygen in the blood, peak flow/respiratory, Body Mass Index (BMI), sugar, and cholesterol.

New Jersey Meadowlands Commission celebrates Thanksgiving

All are welcome to join the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission for “Turkey Trot” on Sunday, Nov. 18 from 1 to 2 p.m. Guests will learn about the history of Thanksgiving, including a biography of the turkey to be served. The occasion will also include a scavenger hunt for kids with prizes and a cranberry sauce demonstration with a take-home recipe. Admission is $5 per person and $4 for MEC members. It will be held at Meadowlands Environment Center at Two DeKorte Park Plaza in Lyndhurst.

Woodcliff Community Church offering free Thanksgiving luncheon

The public is invited to the Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon provided for free at the Woodcliff Community Reformed Church, 7605 Palisade Ave., North Bergen. Those who would like to attend will enjoy turkey with all the trimmings, ham, lasagna, plus an array of desserts and much more from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 22.
Last year, 200 people attended, and the luncheon went off without a hitch with the help of volunteers and donations by local merchants.
The Woodcliff Christian Harvest Food Pantry is open the second and fourth Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for those in need of food. The Divine Thrift Store, located on the second floor, is also open during the same time and offers a wide selection of fashions for men, women and children at low prices. All proceeds from sales go to help the church with its ministries.
Donations of food and gently used clothing, housewares and other items are always welcome.
