Funeral services took place Nov. 29 for George E. Laverty of Jersey City. He passed away on Nov. 24. He was predeceased by his wife, Cecelia; he is survived by his children, Michael, Janis, James, Lisa and predeceased by his son, David. He is survived also by two sisters, Helen and Muriel and predeceased by eight sisters and a brother, Teresa, Eileen, Ethel, Grace, Patricia, Maureen, Peggy, Isabel and John. A grandfather, George is survived by three grandchildren, Jodi, Jennifer and Meghan and five great grandchildren Justin, Dylan, Charlie, Mackenzie and Madison.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marine in World War II and then a veteran of the U.S. Army during Korea. He then operated his own roofing company. He was a member of the VFW, Weehawken Post. Services arranged by the Leber Funeral Home, Union City.
