A mass of Christian burial was held Nov. 24 at St. Anthony’s Church in Union City for Bella Mercun, 90. She passed away surrounded by her family on Nov. 20 at Hoboken University Medical Center. Born in Jersey City, she was a lifelong resident of Union City. Bella was a homemaker. Throughout the years, she was a caregiver for her children and grandchildren and she herself to her family. She was an outstanding cook and her delicious meals and hospitality will be forever missed. Bella was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Louis A. Mercun, Sr. and his brothers Joseph and John; her parents Carmella and Raffaele Aiello, and stepfather John Del Sole; sister Florence Vezza and her husband Dominic; brother Dominick Aiello and his wife Antoinette; as well as brother Patrick Aiello. She is survived by her sons, John Mercun and his wife Marie and Louis A. Mercun, Jr. and his wife Christina; and also survived by her grandchildren, Caroline Murray (nee: Mercun) and her husband Richard; and grandchildren CarlaMarie, John Thomas and Anthony Mercun. Bella is also survived by her brother Robert Aiello, sisters in law Eleanor and Hilda Mercun, cousin John Aiello, as well as many nieces and nephews.
