Winter Solstice Celebration set for Thursday night

The New Jersey Meadowlands Commission will have a Special Winter Solstice Celebration on Thursday, Dec. 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. to welcome the first day of winter. This will be an evening of astronomy and solstice traditions. Those who attend will build their own comet, make a Yule log, create and eat Asian rice-ball solstice treats, and much more.
Adults must accompany children and preregistration is required which is $5 per person and $4 for MEC members. The event is open to all ages and will be held at the Meadowlands Environment Center at Two DeKorte Park Plaza in Lyndhurst.
