SIMONE, BERNARD

A funeral mass was offered Dec. 10 at St. Francis R.C. Church, Hoboken, for Bernard “Bernie” Simone, 87, lifelong Hoboken resident and longtime proprietor of Mary’s Flower Shop. He passed away Dec. 6. Bernie was a favorite of many community establishments, local churches, and hundreds of customers in the Hoboken area. He served in the military during the height of World War II and returned to marry his high school sweetheart, Rose Gitto. His love for Hoboken never kept him far from home. He was predeceased by his wife Rose; his mother Mary; the florist, father Bernard; brother Daniel and is survived by siblings Albert, Cookie and Bernadine. Surviving are his children: Mary Coppolecchia, husband Raymond, Anne Marchetta, husband Patrick, Bernard G. Simone, wife Jennifer and Joseph Simone, wife Marie, and nine grandchildren: Matthew, wife Andrea, Jason, Steven, Eric, Christopher, Michael, Sabrina, Emily, Alexandra and great grandchildren Anna and Vincent. Bernie is also survived by his sister in law Rita and a host of nieces and nephews. Services arranged by the Failla Memorial Home, Hoboken.
