CINELLI, JOSEPH ANTHONY

The funeral liturgy was performed Jan. 12 at Our Lady of the Assumption R.C. Church, Wood Ridge, for Joseph Anthony Cinelli, 85, of Wood Ridge. He passed away Jan. 8. Born in Jersey City to the late Saverio and Josephine Cinelli, Joseph was a Navy Veteran of WWII. After the war, Joseph sold watermelons with his truck throughout Jersey City and soon afterward began to salvage scrap metal. He was the inspiration that encouraged his four sons to start Cinelli Scrap Metal and Cinelli Iron and Metal. Today both companies employ over 150 employees. He was the husband of the late Anne Cinelli; father of Joseph Cinelli and his wife Maureen of Montvale, Gary Cinelli and his wife Jodi and Glen Cinelli and his wife Dawn all of Wood Ridge and Craig Cinelli and his wife Tracy of Allendale; brother of the late Dominick and Frankie Cinelli; grandfather of Carrie Ann, Joseph, Anthony, Aubrey, Gary, Alison, Kelly, Ryan, Michael, Samantha, Nicole and Anthony; and great grandfather of Lexi Ann, Thomas, Anthony and Hudson.
