A resident of the Galaxy Towers 2 in Guttenberg has yet to be apprehended in connection to a bomb threat that occurred on Thursday, Dec. 27. According to a police report, police dispatch received a call from the Galaxy condo association saying someone left an odd message on their voicemail. The message stated there was an explosive device containing TNT or an explosive contaminate in the closet of a tenant’s bedroom.
Three floors were evacuated as a result.The Jersey City Bomb Squad and the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office were notified and responded with multiple units. Weehawken emergency responders and the North Hudson Regional Fire department were also on the scene.
The Jersey City Bomb Squad and HCSO K9 bomb dogs arrived at the tenant’s apartment with keys that were provided by Galaxy security. They searched the apartment and did not find explosives.
The tenant who left the voice message is being charged with causing a false public alarm and a bomb threat. However, that resident has not returned to the apartment and has not been apprehended, police said. Bail is set at $5,000 once they can apprehend the person.
