HUDSON COUNTY – During the evening rush hour commute on Monday, traffic in Jersey City was backed up following a crash between a car and a passenger-filled Hudson-Bergen Light Rail train near Warren Street and Essex Street.
Some passengers on the train appeared to have light injuries and were being treated at the scene.
Shortly before 8 p.m., the train remained at a standstill and street traffic was being rerouted around the area. While the vehicle the train allegedly struck did not appear to be on the scene at this time, several train passengers said a collision with a car is what caused the accident.
Rush hour traffic Monday evening was lighter than normal since many people were home in honor of the Martin Luther King Day holiday.
