NORTH BERGEN – Who will run against Gov. Chris Christie next November? It might be Barbara Buono.
State Sen./North Bergen Mayor Nicholas Sacco welcomed a special guest to Tuesday night’s meeting of the North Bergen Democratic Municipal Committee – State Sen. Barbara Buono, the Democratic party’s presumptive nominee in this year’s gubernatorial election. Buono addressed a packed crowd of hundreds of Democratic county committee members and volunteers and stayed after the meeting to meet with members of the organization.
“I have worked with Barbara Buono in the Senate for many years and I know that she is an ideal candidate to provide a strong contrast to Governor Christie and articulate the Democratic message in this election,” said Sacco. “I thank her for attending our meeting and our organization is behind her 100 percent and will work hard to produce a strong vote for her in North Bergen.”
Buono currently represents the 18th legislative district in the State Senate and lives in Metuchen. She has been endorsed by Sacco along with the Hudson County Democratic Organization and other prominent Democrats throughout the state. The meeting was also attended by Assembly Budget Chairman Vincent Prieto, Assemblywoman Angelica Jimenez, Hudson County Sheriff Frank Schillari, North Bergen Democratic Municipal Chairman John Belluardo, Hudson County Freeholder Tom Liggio and several other local officials.
