NORTH BERGEN – The Nicholas J. Sacco Foundation, a charitable organization headed by Mayor/State Senator Nick Sacco, gave back during the holiday season by donating $1,000 each to four local food pantries in Hudson County. Run respectively by North Bergen based Woodcliff Community Church, Our Lady Of Fatima Church, Gospel Tabernacle Church, and Holy Redeemer Church in West New York, the food pantries help struggling families in the area by providing meals and take-home bags of food and other goods.
“I was proud to support these organizations in their mission of providing a crucial service to members of our local communities who are struggling,” said Sacco. “Unemployment and underemployment are serious problems in our state and are especially prevalent in urban areas. We need to do more to create more jobs and better opportunities for people to work hard and rise out of poverty and into the middle class, and to maintain a strong social safety net to make sure that families facing difficult circumstances are not left behind.”
If you or your family is struggling with hunger in these tough times, contact your local City Hall or one of the above mentioned churches for information on food pantry items that are available to you.
