The Knights of Columbus, Star of the Sea Council No. 371, recently held their annual Free Throw Contest at the Bayonne High School gymnasium. The contest was open to all boys and girls, ages 10 to 14, who reside in Bayonne or attend school in the city.
Each child received a participation certificate. First and second place winners were presented with trophies. The first place winners in each age group moved on to the next competition, which will be held in Paramus on March 9. Contest chairman was Bob Bludgus and Grant Knight is Gary Bejgrowicz.
The winners are as follows:
Girls: Alexa Mark, 12 years old, first place; Alyssa Reynolds, 12, second place; Lourel Francisco, 14, first place; and Khiain Yap, 14, second place.
Boys: Isaiah Williams, 10, first place; Aidan Calcaterra, 10, second place; Thomas Cotter, 11, first place; Jacob Vodruzka, 11, second place; Matthew Brown, 12, first place; Kwadir Smith, 12, second place; Abanoub Guirses, 13, first place; Bryan Monegro, 13, and Alen Del Valle, 13, tied for second place; Luis Acosta, 14, first place; and Darian Martinez, 14, second place.
