Wolf, Reyes spark Wizards’ comeback

The Jewish Community Center of Bayonne’s Indoor Soccer Junior Division soared into action as the Knights and Wizards squared off in their 2013 season opener. The Knights bolted out to a 2-0 lead as Steven Pereira nailed two goals off assists from Joyce Gabrael and Christopher Ballance. While the Knights’ offense lit up the scoreboard, Andrew Sprague, Harsh Easwar, Giovanni Russo, and Da’mien Taylor played rock-solid defense in the early going.
Taking the court for the first time, no one was sure how the Wizards would react to their less than impressive start but the Wizards answered all those questions in the final 15 minutes. The first big step in righting the ship was to insert Michael Egan in at goaltender with the iron-willed Matt Miceli standing guard at the sweeper position. The second step was the teaming of T.J. Wolf, Danny Reyes, and Nate Cintron to fuel the offensive ranks.
In a matter of minutes, the Wizards’ Danny Reyes and T.J. Wolf knotted the bout at 2-all as Wolf assisted Reyes on goal number one, followed by Wolf blasting a penalty shot. Both teams battled down the stretch but in the end, the Wizards fought back for a 3-2 victory as T.J. Wolf nailed his second goal with just 20 seconds remaining.
