Dear Editor:
At Mayor Healy’s recent campaign kick-off event, Hudson County Freeholder Jeffery Dublin publicly spoke the following, “Get out to vote so that Jersey City can remain for Jersey City, not some newcomers, some interlopers who don’t know the city, don’t care about the city, and want to use the city for their own personal ambitions.” As a long-time resident of Jersey City, I am deeply offended by our current Mayor’s tacit approval of such comments. These words uttered are most divisive and shameful. I am offended that the current administration thinks large portions of the city are not important. I am offended that the Mayor operates the city as a form of personal patronage to his friends and loyalists, many of whom reside outside the city and consume our hard-earned tax dollars for their pleasure.
Mayor Healy and Freeholder Dublin have lost the trust of the public electorate. These comments will be the final nail in the coffin for the most corrupt administration since Frank Hague. Many of us do care about this great city and we will demonstrate just how much we care on Election Day when we cast our ballots. I want a Mayor that will represent the interests of all Jersey City residents and one that is a smart, dedicated, and a true public servant. This person will have a plan and know how to get things done in the America’s Golden Door city. The clear choice for Mayor is Steven Fulop. As a city councilman for the last 7 years, he served such elected position with great energy and dedication. He has positively influenced and improved the lives of many of residents. As Mayor, Steven Fulop will be an even greater asset to our city.
