GOODWIN, KEITH ANTHONY

Funeral services were held March 14 at the Mt Olive Baptist Church, Hoboken, for Keith Anthony Goodwin. He passed away March 8. He was born on Nov. 2, 1967 in Jersey City to the late Sandy (Cookie) Goodwin Jr. and Alicia Mansfield. Keith was the eldest of four boys and one girl. Keith was raised in Hoboken where he attended the Hoboken school system and graduated from Hoboken High School. He later attended classes at Union County Community College and also studied at Florida Community College. Keith was an athlete as a young man who loved sports and was a star baseball, basketball and football player.
He joined the Navy and later the Merchant Marines. While in the Navy and in the Merchant Marines Keith traveled to Malaysia, Singapore, Johannesburg, South Africa, Guam, Japan and other places across Europe and relocated several times living in Virginia, Florida, Washington State (Seattle area) and Guam. Keith served his country while assigned to the submarine USS Alabama. He ended his Naval career having received two meritorious unit commendations; two Navy ‘ E’ Ribbons; three Good Conduct Awards; the National Defense Service Award; two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons; a Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, the Submarine Enlisted Breast Insignia ‘Silver Dolphins’ and the Navy Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon.
Keith leaves to cherish his memory his children, Tyler Anderson , Amani Renee , Keith Anthony Eugene Goodwin; wife, Renee Goodwin; mother, Alicia Goodwin; Stepfather Ken Hurdle; brothers, David, Fu, Ronald (Mishia) Goodwin; sister, Crystal Goodwin; grandparents, Janet and Danald Price; aunts Marisa , Marie , Michelle Agosto, Carol Goodwin, Delores Scott and Faith Muhammed; uncles, Samuel Goodwin, Louis Parmalee; great aunts, Paulette Goodwin, Rose Lawrence, Merrion Howell; and great uncles Michael Lawrence, Eugene Drayton. Services arranged by the Funeraria San Camilo, Newark.
