HOBOKEN—Hudson County spokesman Jim Kennelly said Monday that the Fourteenth Street viaduct between Union City and Hoboken will be closed on Wednesday, Mach 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and possibly again on Saturday, March 23.
“The reason this is happening is to enable massive concrete pours. The concrete must be set and there can’t be significant vibration while it is setting,” he said.
Kennelly also said that the concrete pours are weather-dependent, and therefore, “concrete” times cannot always be scheduled.
“One of the pours takes about four hours, but it cannot be too wet or too cold or it will not set properly,” said Kennelly.
There is a waiting time between pours to make sure they take. The next anticipated pour and closure after Wednesday, March 20 would be Saturday, March 23. This date is subject to change.
