Promises, promises, promises

Dear Editor:
Hoboken’s March 20th City Council Meeting once again illustrated how Mayor Zimmer and her allies on the City Council are not serious about providing Hoboken with more parks. Time and time again the mayor and her allies have fallen short on their open space promises. Council President Cunningham has made it abundantly clear that he wants to just drag this out and hopes that Hoboken residents will just forget about it and the whole issue will just go away.
Councilman Tim Occhipinti is leading the charge to acquire blighted lots on Jackson Street to turn them into open space. It’s a shame that Mayor Zimmer – who used to claim she was always for more open space – now drags her feet and won’t support this proposal. The petition that Councilman Occhipinti presented before the City Council clearly shows that this is what the people want. For Mayor Zimmer and her allies to simply ignore this common-sense proposal is truly shameful on their part. I hope that more people will support Councilman Occhipinti’s efforts to use this open space for a park and tell Mayor Zimmer to put politics aside and do what is good for the people!

Sincerely,
Jay G (Concerned Citizen)
