Medical Society of New Jersey to provide grants to Hudson County
The Medical Society of New Jersey (MSNJ) and its Institute of Medicine and Public Health of New Jersey have established a fund to assist physician practices in Hudson County damaged by Superstorm Sandy. Additional support for the program was provided by the Physicians Foundation, a nonprofit organization that seeks to advance the work of practicing physicians and help facilitate the delivery of healthcare.
Grants can be used in many ways, including relocating or rehabilitating the physicians’ medical offices, replacing equipment, rebuilding patient records, and payment of temporary operating expenses.
“The impact of Superstorm Sandy is unprecedented in New Jersey and many of our physicians are struggling to rebuild,” said Larry Downs, CEO of MSNJ. “We are pleased to assist medical practices as they continue to meet the healthcare needs of their communities.”
“Our goal is to give physicians the resources and support they need to reestablish healthcare delivery in affected areas,” said Dr. Alan Plummer, Physicians Foundation board member and chair of the Grants Committee. “We feel a responsibility to help physicians in New York and New Jersey who were impacted by Superstorm Sandy rebuild their practices, so they can focus on caring for their patients and providing the best quality medical care available.”

April 20 will be Earth Day in Hudson County
The Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders, Hudson County Executive Thomas DeGise, and Hudson County Improvement Authority have designated Saturday, April 20, from 10 to 5 p.m. at Liberty State Park as A New Day… EARTH DAY.
This Earth Day event will feature a 5K run with a registration from 7:30-9:30 a.m. and an Earth Day Fair, which features the Earth Day Kid’s Kingdom. Additional activities are planned.
