Dragons get the gold

After bulldozing through the Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Bayonne’s Indoor Soccer Jr. Division with a record of (7-0-1), the top seeded Dragons have one more rough and ready foe to pass, the (3-6) Knights. The Dragons got out to a blistering pace as Brayden Cotter poured in four goals in the first eight minutes of play. Assisting on the quick-scoring barrage were Alexandra Soliman (2); Akshat Thakur (1); and Josh Belber (1). Down by a boatload, the Knights’ Giovanni Russo showed off some offensive firepower as he notched three goals in less than five minutes, with Steven Pereira assisting on all three scores. With their big lead cut down to 4-3, the Dragons roared into action as Brayden Cotter hit the bullseye for four more goals, and Daniel Mena picked up three assists to rocket the Dragons’ lead to 8-3. Despite the five-goal deficit, the Knights battled for every inch of turf, with Chris Ballance, Harsh Easwar, Da’Mien Taylor, and Joyce Gabrael giving it their all. For about seven minutes, the score stayed frozen until the Dragons’ Drew Radil and Daniel Mena cashed in with two more goals making it 10-3, Dragons. With time running out, the Dragons closed out their quest for gold as Alexandra Soliman assisted Brayden Cotter on his 42nd goal of the season, while Marcelino Soliman sealed the 12-3 victory with a net-jarring strike. Congratulations to all our players for giving it their best, and thank you to their families and fans for keeping it fun.
