To the Editor:
So you figure after the attacks in Boston by alleged Islamic terrorists, the brains in DC would take time out and reexamine the Immigration bill. NOPE!! The Gang of Eight and their political allies, mainly sellout liberal Democrats, are pushing forward with it. Almost every day you find out the garbage and giveaways our politicians are giving to illegal foreign nationals while tens of millions of Americans are unemployed and underemployed, on food stamps, and welfare. Don’t forget the million or so foreign workers every year who would be coming into the U.S. who will compete with Americans for jobs.
What are some of the new goodies that have come out per the Daily Caller, the newly revised Immigration bill, an 867-page version released April 18. Well, it has more waivers and exceptions then the Obama Care Bill like granting amnesty to undocumented immigrants, who left the U.S. on their own accord or were deported. Another section allows families of deported undocumented immigrants, including family members who never visited the U.S., to apply for amnesty. There are also provisions for undocumented immigrants who have committed crimes to be granted amnesty. There is also a provision in the bill that authorizes your taxpayer dollars to be given to groups that would help undocumented immigrants once the program started.
Testimony from Chris Crane, ICE Officer and President of the National ICE Council representing ICE officers, agents, and staff at a hearing in DC said that this bill threatens our nation’s safety because the bill was crafted behind closed doors with businesses, pro illegal immigrant groups, and politicians. Chris Crane said that the bill is being rushed through and that Obama has created his own immigration system and picks and chooses what immigration laws to enforce, and that his officers which he represents are hamstrung by what Obama has done. Basically they can’t arrest certain ones or if they do arrest they may have to release them. He said that he was shocked at the contempt of the politicians when law enforcement tried to approach some of them regarding enforcement. He also stated there are so many loopholes in the bill that illegal immigrant criminals would have a party with it.
Another number is that America may get as many 33 million more people into the country in this decade if the bill passes. So how many will go on the government dole, what will our economic situation be in a decade when we have so many here in despair still, and some experts say it will take many years to recover economically. Can this country absorb so many? What about the cost to the U.S. taxpayer in the future, and we haven’t even begun to fathom the costs yet.
I read a story about an illegal immigrant being arrested on a ranch in Texas, telling a border patrol agent in Spanish, ‘Obama’s gonna let me go’.” and other border patrol agents report that immigrants are crossing the border, and in some cases surrendering while asking, “Where do I go for my amnesty?” You’ve also got to wonder how many OTMs were arrested? OTM means other than Mexican illegal immigrants. Yes, there are many other foreign nationals sneaking across our borders that get caught and many who don’t get caught which could be in the tens of thousands or more. This is the chaos that Obama and the Gang of Eight are causing with this Amnesty but of course they or the media won’t tell you about it.
Obama was in Mexico this past week, telling its political leaders, “We gonna pass immigration reform!” Wouldn’t it have been nice of Obama or one of our politicians to stand up to Mexico and tell it to stop importing its poverty into our country, stop encouraging illegal immigration, stop sticking its nose in how we handle our immigration affairs, and to fix its economy already to improve its citizen’s lives. It’s improving but a lot more has to be done there.
Basically, this current immigration bill is garbage and needs to be thrown in the trashcan. We need to secure our borders first and then design an immigration bill that suits our country, not a bunch of special interests like pro-illegal groups, big businesses, and other factions. Remember immigration is a privilege not a right as the illegal aliens and their supporters have made it out to be. The American people need to wake up and demand the politicians in DC listen and kill this disaster of a bill or it will be a disaster for this country if it passes.
