MAJKOWSKI, HELENA

The funeral liturgy was celebrated June 12 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Jersey City, for Helena Majkowski, of Toms River, formerly of Jersey City. She passed away June 8 after a long illness. Born in Poland, she survived in the Nazi labor camps and immigrated to Jersey City with her parents Anastasia and Boleslaw Grygorcewicz and her sister Ann (Andzia) Grygorcewicz Kissam. She and her husband, longtime residents of Jersey City, worked side-by-side at G&M Getty on Central Ave. which they owned for 43 years. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Jersey City until her illness. She and her daughter Theresa moved to Toms River to stay with her daughter Annie Baran and her husband Bobby. An avid gardener and animal lover, she was a mother, grandmother and aunt who will be missed. Helena was predeceased by her husband Walter, son Richard and sister Ann. Surviving are two daughters, Anna Baran and husband Robert, Theresa; two sons, W. Steven and wife Margaret, Bobby and wife Karen; grandchildren, Ryan and Tommy Majkowski; nieces and nephews, Janet Kissam, James Kissam and wife Patricia, Andrew and wife Michelle, Jennifer Earley and husband Mike; grand nieces and nephews, Jessica, Cassandra, Stephanie, James, Heather, Jason and wife Marissa; great-grandnephew Rocco Kissam. Services arranged by the Kedz Funeral Home, Toms River.
