After suffering their first loss of the season, the now (4-1) Bruins were hoping to rebound against the hard charging (2-2) Red Wings as they meet for the third time in the Jewish Community Center of Bayonne’s Floor Hockey Jr. Division. In the early going, all went according to plan as the Bruins built a 2-0 lead as Ryan “Iron” Griffin assisted Alejandro Cifuentes on two quick goals. The Red Wings narrowed the margin as Drew Radil cashed in off a pass from Wings’ team captain Megan Feeley. Leading 2-1, the Bruins stayed on the attack as Ryan Griffin made it 3-1 with a net torcher off a pass from Matt Miceli. Undaunted by the Bruins’ surge, the Red Wings soared back to take a 4-3 advantage as Drew Radil stormed the net for three more goals as Akshat Thakur racked up three assists. As both teams’ offenses ignited, the Bruins’ Victor Mendolaro and the Red Wings’ Declan Good found themselves under siege at net as the saves mounted. With all resources aimed at scoring, the Bruins tied the bout at 4-4 with a scoring blast from Ryan Griffin. The tie was short lived as Drew Radil continued his goal-fest by bolting in his fifth and sixth point while Akshat Thakur piled up two more assists. Trailing 6-4, the Bruins’ Matt Miceli turned the tide with his first goal of the season before assisting Ryan Griffin on his third and fourth goal of the brawl to give the Bruins a 7-6 advantage. With the outcome still in the balance the Red Wings’ Megan Feeley stepped into the spotlight as she zipped in the game tying strike. Deadlocked at 7 all, the Bruins’ Thomas Canela dug in at defenseman to anchor the final charge and with fifteen seconds remaining, Matt Miceli fired a pass to Ryan Griffin who answered the call with his game winning fifth goal of the bout as the Bruins escaped with an 8-7 victory.
