DEVEN, FRANCIS JAMES

A funeral mass was offered Aug. 8 at St. Joseph’s Church in Jersey City for Francis James Deven, “Frank,” 74, of Toms River. He passed away peacefully Aug. 2. Born in Jersey City, Frank married Marilyn White in 1964 and started a family before settling in Secaucus. Frank graduated from Dickinson High School and attended St. Peter’s College. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he worked part time for Maxwell House Coffee in Hoboken while pursuing a career in the court system, first as a probation officer for the Hudson County Probation Dept. and later for the Hudson County Dept. of Weights and Measures. Frank then accepted a post as administrator for the Pollock Hospital, before being appointed court administrator for the Secaucus Municipal Court, serving for twelve years before retiring. Frank is survived by his wife Marilyn; father of Stephanie Deven Foley (Gearoid) of Princeton,, Scott Deven (Cindy) of Las Vegas, Nev., Mark Deven of Toms River and April Deven Los (Jeff) of Toms River; and grandfather of Olivia, Grant, Evie, Samuel and Landon. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
