‘Blood Drive Tailgate’ at Meadowlands on Tuesday, Oct. 1

MEADOWLANDS — Six bloodmobiles from six blood donations centers will descend on MetLife Stadium, 1 MetLife Stadium Dr., East Rutherford, for the “Blood Drive Tailgate” on Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 11 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. in Parking Lot E.
The community blood drive is being sponsored by the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee and New Jersey Workplace Blood Donor Coalition.
Everyone who donates blood at the event will be entered into the blood drive sweepstakes to win a pair of tickets to Super Bowl XLVIII Feb. 2 at the stadium.
Those who volunteer also will be able to tour the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee’s “Huddle Shuttle,” the first mobile tour associated with a Super Bowl. It includes the Vince Lombardi Trophy and displays an array of football memorabilia.
Donors are encouraged to register in advance for the drive and select a specific time that is convenient for them, but walk-ins are welcome. Donors can sign up by clicking on the “Mega Drive” gold star at www.njsave3lives.com.
The “Blood Drive Tailgate” is being co-chaired by the New Jersey Commissioner of Health Mary O’Dowd and Kevin Rigby, U.S. country head of public affairs and vice president of public affairs for Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp. –Joseph Passantino
