No more gestation crates

Dear Editor:
Like the many New Jerseyans who I see doting on their beloved pooches, I consider my dog to be one of my best friends. But I recognize it’d be morally inconsistent for me to pamper my dog without caring about other animals, too.
I have long been disgusted at the way the pork industry abuses pigs, especially the practice of confining mother pigs to “gestation crates”, metal cages so small that these smart, social animals can’t even turn around. I hope that the New Jersey legislature votes again in support of S.1921, the gestation crate ban bill.
