The Friends of the Hoboken Public Library are delighted to report the success of our second Novella Night, a “lite” version of the Friends’ Novel Night dining event, to benefit the Hoboken Public Library. The funds raised by this event will be used toward replacing the Library’s front door with one more suitable to the historic building.
On October 19, more than a dozen Hoboken hosts opened their homes to more than 150 guests for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. There were parties with book themes (“Dr. Zhivago” by Boris Pasternak and “Killing the Poor Master” by Hoboken’s own Holly Metz among them) and parties without themes, but all were splendid opportunities for guests to enjoy great food, great drinks and great conversation with fellow guests. There were too many party guests to name individually, but we thank each and every one for being an essential ingredient in this successful evening. We also thank those who could not attend but nevertheless made gifts to support the Library.
Our appreciation also go to the Novella Night Committee—Melanie Best, Alexandra Brady, Marilyn Freiser, Myrna Kasser, Jane Klueger, Hope Koturo, Lynda Layng, Susan Moore, and Alicia Weinstein—who gave their time and energy to produce this event, and to Roseann Rana for assistance with mailings. Kudos go to designer extraordinaire Phil Huling for art and production management.
