McGill sparks Colts win

The (2-2) Colts and the (3-1) Bears met for a JCC of Bayonne Jr. Division Indoor Flag Football tussle as both squads showcased their defenses. After twenty scoreless minutes of play, the Colts’ Ahmad McGill finally broke free for a wire to wire TD dash followed by Kasper Hook’s two point catch. The Bears responded with a goal to goal TD strike of their own as Nicholas Resua torched the court. Leading 8-6, the Colts hit paydirt again as Ahmad McGill once again raced full court while Chris Ballance tacked on a two point grab making it 16-6. As the Bears marched towards the Colts endzone, Ahmad McGill ended their drive with a diving interception. Frozen at 16-6, the Colts’ defense led by Kyle Arano, Michael Aziz, and Chris Ballance brick walled the Bears struggling offense. Lucky for the Bears, their defense knew how to rack up points as Michael Egan, Ryan Griffin, Matt Miceli, and Jordan Neustein trapped the Colts’ runner for a two point safety. Up 16-8, the Colts’ defense made it 18-8 one play later by forcing a safety. In the closing minutes, the Bears’ defense once again put up points as they added another safety with Anthony Fraser leading the way but the Colts held on for an 18-10 victory.
