ECHANDIA, DR. PAUL P.

Funeral services took place Nov. 4 for Dr. Paul P. Echandia, 91. He passed away peacefully on Nov. 1 at his Jersey City home. Dr. Echandia was born in New York City. A graduate of Regis High School Class of 1940 and Fordham University Class of 1944, it was at Fordham University where he met the love of his life, Rose VanBrunt. They married in 1946 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Valentine’s Day and resided in Jersey City ever since. Dr. Echandia taught at Pace University for sixty years, retiring in 2006. He held a Masters Degree in English and Mathematics, both of which were accomplished simultaneously at Fordham and Columbia Universities. He received his Doctorate Degree in Psychology from New York University.
His entire life was devoted to education. He retired as Professor Emeritus from Pace University. Dr. Echandia was a Army Veteran of World War II. He was predeceased by his wife Rose and a brother, Edward. Surviving are his two sons, Paul Jr. and Reid; and two nieces, Adele and Arlene. Services arranged by the Failla Funeral Home, Hoboken.
