HUDSON COUNTY –The Hudson County Sheriff’s Department and the Secaucus Police will take part in American Medicine Chest Challenge New Jersey on Nov. 9, a day of disposal for residents to properly dispose of their unused, unwanted, and expired prescription and over-the-counter medicine. American Medicine Chest Challenge is a statewide initiative that is being spearheaded by the Partnership Drug-Fee New Jersey and local New Jersey law enforcement. This public health initiative, with law enforcement partnership, is designed to raise awareness about the dangers of prescription drug abuse and provide an opportunity to safely dispose of these drugs.
AMCC is designed to help New Jersey residents see their medicine cabinets through new eyes — as an access point for potential misuse and abuse of over-the-counter and prescription medicine by young people. Seventy percent of people who abuse prescription drugs say they get them from the medicine cabinets of friends and relatives.
Residents of Hudson County can take part at County Plaza 257 Cornelison Ave. in Jersey City. Secaucus residents are urged to go to the Secaucus Police Department at 1203 Paterson Plank Rd in Secaucus.
